Let's Move 2015: Local woman runs for friend with cancer
LAKE WORTH, Fla. (CBS12) -- Logging minute after minute to help a friend in the fight against cancer shows how determined Palm Beach County woman is with CBS 12's Let's Move campaign.
Every Monday, Cristina Cano ties her shoelaces and throws on her Let's Move t-shirt, determined to encourage a friend in a fight for her life.
"She's always coming back with a smile and saying, 'thank you so much you're awesome,' but really the person who's most awesome is Sheila," said Cristina Cano.
It's a symbol of hope, love and support that Cano is proud to provide to her friend, Sheila Stringham.
After every run, the longtime Palm Beach County resident calls her friend in Arizona to give an update on the minutes she's logged.
"They always need that extra support with love from friends because the chemo really does affect her. Some days are good, others are bad," said Cano.
As the runs continue so does the treatment. Stringham faces six more weeks of radiation.
It's a daunting journey but not one the mother of three will be taking alone, as long as her South Florida friends continue to move.
