Stallions win first ever girls lacrosse state title; Jupiter boys in title game

American Heritage wins girls lacrosse state title (Sun Sentinel)

Former CBS12 Athlete of the Week Caitlyn Wurzburger can now add state champion to her list of accomplishments, as American Heritage celebrated a 10-7 win over Lake Highland on Friday night in Boca Raton. It's the Stallions first ever girls lacrosse state title.

Meanwhile, the Jupiter Warriors boys lacrosse team advanced to the state title game earlier in the night with a 12-5 win over St. Andrew's.

The Warriors dominated early on, earning a 5-goal halftime lead against a team who had given them fits earlier in the season.

"Losing to these guys earlier in the year I think was a good lesson for us," says Jupiter head coach Nick O'Hara. "It allowed us to practice extra hard this week, and gave the guys some extra motivation heading into it."

The Warriors will be playing in the state championship game for the first time since 2012.
