The Seminole Ridge Flag Football team was looking for their 6th State Title since 2010, but for the second straight year they fell just short.

Former CBS12 Athlete of the Week Ashley Hollandsworth helped the Hawks take the lead in the 2nd quarter with a touchdown catch from Haylie Young, but Tampa-Alonzo scored three touchdowns in the 2nd half to win 19-7, earning their first ever State Championship.

"Everybody said we were never even going to make it to this point," said Hawks senior Ariana Payne. "So the fact that we got here as a team with all the freshmen and everybody stepping up (was great). This is a forever team, I'll always love them."

"I really make lifelong friendships," says fellow senior Brook Champagne. "I'm more upset it's over than that we lost."

The Hawks will now lose five key seniors heading into next season, but are confident the next generation of players will continue to compete to get back to the state title game for the 8th straght time.
