2018 was a huge bounce-back season for Santaluces baseball. The Chiefs were back in the playoffs for just the second time since 2013, and were looking for their first postseason victory since 2004. The season featured a district championship, and their first victory over Park Vista, led by former Chiefs head coach Larry Greenstein, in 16 tries.

But their storybook season came to an end in the regional quarterfinals.

Behind a super pitching performance the Palm Beach Central Broncos blanked the Chiefs 2-0 in Lantana.

C.J. Kayfus recorded afinal strikeout with two on base to close out the gem.

The big hitter for Palm Beach Central (18-9) was shortstop Michael Brooks who tripled to drive in Kayfus for the game’s first run in the top of the third.

In the top of the fourth inning, Brooks delivered another RBI as his two-out single drove in Guillermo Garcia, Jr.

The loss dropped the Chiefs to 22-4 on the season.

The Broncos move on to the Regional Semifinals next Tuesday against Jupiter.
