Atlantic ready for first title shot in almost 40 years

There were so many tears and so many smiles when the Atlantic Owls won their state semifinal last week, so you could imagine the emotion heading into Saturday's state title game at Camping World Stadium in Orlando.

But the Eagles are taking on yet another team who has beat the odds, and proved their doubters wrong.

The Eagles will have to knock off a Dr. Phillips team that has knocked off two state ranked champs on their road to the state final. Atlantic themselves have surprised both 10-win Davie Western and 11-win Miami High, a defensive effort that included a 101 yards pick six and a 70-yard kickoff return for touchdown.

It's the first appearance in the state title game for the Eagles since 1978, as they look for their first ever state championship. The players say they're hoping to win it not only for this year's team, but every Eagles player in history that's fallen short.
