Jack Nicklaus tees off in West Palm Beach.

Jupiter native Daniel Berger may be to young remember the legendary Jack Nicklaus playing during in his heyday., but he's still very much in awe of his 18 major victories. On Wednesday Berger was in awe of sharing the spotlight with one of the best the sport has ever seen.

Nicklaus cut the ribbon that officially opened the newly revamped Legend Course at the Club at Ibis in West Palm Beach. Berger was also on site, hosting a golf clinic for a couple hundred lucky guests. Nicklaus has known how talented Berger is since he watched him complete almost a decade ago against his son Gary at the County Amateur Championship. While the 39 Nicklaus beat the then 15 year old Berger, Jack says he still remembers recognizing the talent.

"That was kind of the first time I ever had the opportunity to meet him," recalls Berger. "Ever since then he's been really open. I joined the Bear's Club a couple years ago, and he's the first person I called, and he let me in willingly, which was nice."

"He's grown up," says Nicklaus with a smile. "Mentally, he's learned to play. He's won a couple times, and he'll win more. He just needs to keep working on it, and keep gaining confidence, and keep moving forward. He's going to do just fine, and he's going to be around for a long time."

Berger says he's spending much of his off-season in his hometown of Jupiter.
