King's Academy dominates for a National Championship in Scottsdale
Scottsdale, AZ (CBS12) —
The King's Academy golf team was arguably already the most talented high school team in South Florida, but now they have a National Championship to prove it. The team shot a school record 7 under on the final day of the Antigua National High School Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona to win the National title by 11 strokes.
Senior Andrew Kozan led the way, along with juniors Logan Othmer and David Giandomenico, and sophomores Alex Vogelsong and Sam Thomas.
It a huge win for a team that finished 5th at the State Championships last year, despite being the favorites led by the reining State champion Kozan. They dominated at in Arizona, beating the State Champs from Utah by 11, the champs from Arizona by 15 and Illinois by 25 strokes.
