Playoff dreams end in Kansas City, as Fins fall to Chiefs 29-13

The Dolphins needed two wins in their last two games, and then lots of help to get into the playoffs.

The Fins couldn't take care of their part of the bargain.

They Fins defense allows just their second 300 yard passer of the season, and couldn't muster enough offense to win in Kansas City. The Chiefs toppled Miami 29-13, to send them to 6-9.

Kansas City quarterback Alex Smith completed 25 for 39 passes for 304 yards and one touchdown. The Chiefs were also successful on the ground - Kareem Hunt racked up 91 yards on 29 carries and a score.

The Dolphins could muster just one touchdown in their last road game of the season. That came on an exciting Jay Cutler swing pass to Jakeem Grant, who ripped off three tackles and ran 65 yards for the score. That made the score 17-13 at the time in the second quarter. The Fins went to halftime down 20-17.

But the Dolphin receivers had two integral fumbles - Jarvis Landry in the first half, Kenny Stills in the second - which helped to stall the offense. The Fins were not able to put any points on the board after halftime.

Kenyan Drake could just muster just 57 yards on the ground on 13 carries. He did not register a catch.

The Dolphins now host the Bills next week to close out the season.
