The PGA of America makes their move from Palm Beach Gardens to Frisco, Texas official
Palm Beach Gardens (CBS12) —
The PGA of America will be moving its headquarters from Palm Beach Gardens to Frisco, Texas. After months of speculation, it was officially announced on Tuesday night that the organization, that's been based in Palm Beach County for over 50 years, will be moving to a 600-acre, mixed-use development with an initial investment worth more than half a billion dollars.
"The leaders of Palm Beach County have been highly valued partners," said Darrell Crall, PGA of America's Chief Operating Officer to CBS12 on Tuesday. "They've provided significant opportunities for us. It really was a matter of picking the best of multiple good options."
According to the PGA of America, there's an agreement to relocate about 120 jobs to Frisco in 2021 or early 2022 at the earliest. While roughly 100 jobs will remain here in Palm Beach County. Still, a big part of our area's golf identity seems to be heading to Texas.
"Certainly the PGA brand will still live in Palm Beach County, "says Crall. "From PGA Blvd (and) PGA National. Some would say Palm Beach County is the unofficial golf capital of the world."
But it's Frisco that will getting some major golf championships on brand golf courses. The deal includes being able to host two PGA Championships, two KPMG Women's PGA Championships and potentially a Ryder Cup in the next few years.
The economic impact to Frisco is expected to be more than $2.5 billion over the next 20 years.
