PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS12) — Former Masters Champion Sergio Garcia played the front nine of the Champions Course on Tuesday, and you may not have recognized him at first.
It’s just the second week that PGA tour players are allowed to wear shorts in there practice rounds, and for Garcia it’s a welcomed change.
“When you go to a club, and you practice on any week off you see a whole bunch of amateurs and shorts, so it’s just normal," Garcia explains. "I think it’s nice that they finally decided to do it here on the PGA Tour.”
Delray Beach resident Gary Woodland was also wearing shorts for his practice rounds, and admits there may be some extra fashion choices that need to be made.
“Yes quickly, I’m going to have to get some help,” joked Woodland. “ I think the tour is adapting with the times a little bit, I’m glad they let us do it.”
Woodland is known as one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour.
