Palm Beach Central's Akeem Dent wins Lou Groza High School Player of the Year Award

Palm Beach Central's Akeem Dent wins Lou Groza High School Player of the Year Award

The 27th annual Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kick Award winner will be announced later this week, but the three finalists, Wyoming's Cooper Rothe, Andre Szymt from Syracuse and LSU kicker Cole Tracy, watched from their table at the Lou Groza Awards Banquet on Monday night, as Akeem Dent was honored. The Palm Beach Central High School cornerback was all smiles as he accepted the Lou Groza high school football Player of the Year award. Even more amazing is that Dent won the award over two other extremely talented finalists, Benjamin's Kaiir Elam and Mark-Antony Richards from Wellington High School.

Meanwhile, Santaluces Head Coach Brian Coe took the Coach of the Year award, celebrating the Chiefs first winning season since 2013, while Benjamin's Lowell Carr took home the High School Kicker of the Year Award.

The grand finale was the Atlantic football team winning the Palm Beach County Team of the Year Award, playing their hearts out to a 10-0 regular season, despite dealing with the tragic death of their beloved teammate Marc'Allan Derac.
