Lynn University Athletics, who've won 23 National Championships in their history, do not think of themselves as a division two school. That's why their Athletic Director Devin Crosbycreated the "South Florida Showdown", inviting D1 teams like Georgetown, Seton Hall and Eastern Michigan to play in Boca Raton this season.

But things got extra special on Saturday as the "South Florida Showdown" turned into the "Battle of Boca Raton", as Lynn hosted their cross town, albeit division one, rivals the Florida Atlantic Owls in preseason basketball action.

The Owls men won 68-53 in what was a very close game at halftime, while the Lynn women fought hard in a 79-67 loss to the Owls, but the concept of the "South Florida Showdown" continues to be a big win for the Fighting Knights program.

"For them to play on a National stage on ESPN, it's been great for them, but it's also been great for out culture," says Crosby. "Because now the entire country can see the culture of Lynn. It's all about our innovation, it's about our honor, it's about our excellence."

Lynn is the only division two program with a one million dollar apparel deal with Adidas.
