Lou Groza Award finalists cheer up young patients at the Palm Beach Children's Hospital
West Palm Beach (CBS12) —
The three finalists for the 27th Annual Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicker Awards gave some local kids a big thrill on Monday morning, dropping by the Palm Beach Children's Hospital to visit several young patients. Wyoming's Cooper Rothe, Andre Szymt from Syracuse, and LSU kicker Cole Tracy all agree that the feel good moments they experienced will be some of the highlights of their week of honors in South Florida.
"It puts me in a great mood," says Szymt. "I mean travelling all day yesterday, it (cheers me up) seeing the smile on all these kids faces."
"Hopefully (we'll) have an impression on these kids that will last forever," adds Rothe.
"To get away from football and really see it from a different lens," explains Tracy. "It's very, very humbling."
The Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicker Award winner for 2018 will be announced on Thursday.
