List, Lovemark surprising leaders at windy Honda Classic
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS12) —
The tough conditions at PGA National led to some ugly scores through 36 holes. But a pair of surprising names are at the top of the leaderboard.
Luke List and Jamie Lovemark, two players that have never won on the PGA Tour, lead the event at -3 going into the weekend. List literally was the first player finished on Friday, and watched as the wind whipped through the afternoon, giving players problems all over the course. List carded the best round of the day, with a 4 under 66. Lovemark was able to gut through the wind in the afternoon, and get a late birdie to tie List's mark. Lovemark and Rory Sabbatini were the only golfers to post two rounds in the 60s.
A number of golfers are on List and Lovemark's heels. The group at -2 includes Sabbatini, Webb Simpson, Tommy Fleetwood and Russell Henley. The rest of the players under par at -1 includes Daniel Berger, Justin Thomas, Thomas Pieters and Louis Oosthuizen.
