FAU basketball losses first of back to back games with rival FIU

The Florida Atlantic Owls lost the first of two straight games against Florida International on Wednesday night 78-74. The Owls came back late after being down by 12 points, but Xavien Stapleton missed a layup with 4 seconds left that could have sent the game into overtime.

Anthony Adger led the way with 21 points, while Richardson Maitre contributed 15. Stapleton had 13 points and 9 rebounds for FAU in the loss.The good news is the Owls will get the chance for redemption against the Golden Panthers this Saturday.

"We'll address some of the issues that we struggled with," said FAU head coach Dusty May. "We'll regroup, and clean up some things execution wise."

FIU and FAU tip off at 7 PM Saturday night in Miami.
