Football is a way of life for many communities in South Floirda, but the culture is unique in the Acreage and Loxahatchee. Girls start playing as early as four years old, helping to crete some of the best flag football players in the state, like our CBS12 Athlete of the Week Ashley Hollandsworth.

Hollandsworth picked up the football bug at the age of four years old. She now plays receiver, splits time at quarterback, and plays safety for the number two ranked team in the state, the Seminole Ridge Hawks.

They got off to a 7-0 start to the season, surviving a 6-0 squeaker in a battle of undefeated teams with Jupiter. Hollandsworth played a huge part for a team that's advanced to six straight state title games, winning four of the last six.

"She's passionate, motivated and hardworking," says her head coach Scott O'Hara. "(She's) not going to be denied. (She's) competitive, but a role model at the same time."

Hollandsworth will pursue a career in Radiology, but hopes to still find ways to play club flag football in her adult life.
