The Benjamin boys lacrosse team is within one win of reaching the state final four for the third time in four years, and a huge reason why is the CBS12 Athlete of the Week Christian Cropp.

"We haven't won a state title before," says Cropp. "It'd be great to be the first class to bring it to our little trophy case."

"He's the golden boy," says Cropp's teamate Austin Michaels. "He's smart in school, super athletic, really nice kid. Just overall a great leader.

Cropp had tp put in some long days, battling hamstring injuries in both his junior and senior seasons.

"There were nights when were doing work on his hamstring until 9:30 at night," says Benjamin Head Coach Shanbe Rye. "He's spent a lot of extra time to stay healthy."

Cropp works on his brain as much as he works on his game. This week he was named one of 24 student athletes from across Florida to be named to the academic all-state team. He's also joining his former teammate Jerry O'Connor at Yale next year."

"I just love what I do, I do it with a great passion of mine, and I just want to leave a legacy, maybe I'll be remembered for something good one day."
