A bicyclist was killed by a Chevrolet Cruze along South Military Trail Thursday night.

The cyclist, 64-year-old Grant Granger of Boynton Beach, was traveling south in northbound lanes of Military trail. Granger abruptly swerved into the path of the oncoming car and was launched from his bike and landed in the roadway, a Friday Palm Beach Sheriff's Office news release said.

The Chevrolet attempted to avoid the cyclist but collided with the front wheel of Granger's bicycle near Beechwood Road around 8 p.m.

The car's occupants, 70-year-old Flor Hernandez and 46-year-old Nancy Rodriquez-Hernandez, were not injured.

Granger was taken to the Delray Medical Center where he died from his injuries about two hours later, according to the news release.
