WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) - As Florida prepares for what their governor is calling the state's most "catastrophic" storm ever, the Caribbean Islands have already experienced the unfortunate consequences of this devastating hurricane.

Footage from St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands shows damaged cars and homes, torn down electric poles and shattered trees among other things. The destruction from the storm was shot on Thursday.

Strong winds and large waves can also be seen in the video below from Friday shot at Nassau, Bahamas before the storm hit. The storm is expected to make landfall in the United States on Sunday.
