Local high school student takes second place in international competition
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
A huge accomplishment for a student in the 561.
Julian Lichtenfeld, a junior at Spanish River High School in Boca Raton, placed second in the International DECA Conference held in Atlanta, April 21-24.
Julian presented his Philanthropy Tank project – Hydroponic Harvest.
Hydroponic Harvest works to provide fresh produce to families in need in Palm Beach County through their hydroponic systems (which is a method of growing plants without soil).
In March of 2017, Julian was awarded $10,000 through Palm Beach Philanthropy Tank – a program that empowers and equips students to develop and execute high-impact sustainable community betterment projects.
To date, past winners have impacted the lives of more than 195,000 Palm Beach County residents.
