National Chocolate Milkshake Day

National Chocolate Milkshake Day at Kilwins in Vero Beach. (Kilwins)

On September 12, chocolate and milkshake lovers unite to enjoy a delicious treat.

It's National Milkshake Day — specifically National Chocolate Milkshake Day.

If you live on the Treasure Coast or in Palm Beach County make sure to check out these locations, known for their milkshake magic.

Palm Beach County

Serendipity-Boca Raton

Serendipity is nestled inside the Boca Raton Resort & Club, and offers a colorful world inside all things sweet.

While inside you can chose some of the traditional flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry - but what takes it over the top is ability to make a shake out of any flavor ice cream they offer.

For chocolate lovers, the cookies and cream milkshake will be your drink of choice.

Serendipity is located inside the resort at 501 E. Camino Real, Boca Raton 33432.

Proper Ice Cream-Delray Beach

Proper Ice Cream is nothing like what I expected it to be. A community run ice cream shop surrounded by neighborhoods, you instantly feel a part of a village when you enter. Proper Ice Cream is my honorable mention, mainly because they do not sell milkshakes, but they do serve chocolate malt ice cream.

When you enter the shop you are greeted by a wonderful world of sugary smells. There are also many unusual ice cream flavors you can chose from, their most popular is the "Blueberry Muffin." While I was there a couple in front of me ordered the "Ceylon Cinnamon" and gushed over how unique and flavorful it was.

The Chocolate Malt Ice cream is a crowd favorite according to the employees at Proper Ice Cream. Store employee Shea Reagan says that the store originally started as a whole sale company, but after multiple requests to sell scoops they converted to a retail store. Around Thanksgiving the store is relocating near Atlantic Avenue but for the time being you can check out Proper Ice Cream at 1445 N Congress Ave #4, Delray Beach, FL 33445.

Check out behind the scenes at Proper Ice Cream:

Woolbright Farmer’s Market-Boynton Beach

It may surprise you a local farmers market in south Boynton Beach offers one of the best chocolate milkshakes around. Woolbright Farmer's Market is east of I-95 situated in a neighborhood, and surrounded by locals.

When you walk into the market you are engulfed with fruit, vegetables, flowers and plants. The last thing you may expect they have is one of the best chocolate milkshakes in Palm Beach County.

I think the market offers something different, something you would not expect at a local establishment, one of the best, authentic, rich milkshakes around. It also doesn't hurt that you can do your weekly grocery shopping while enjoying a chocolate shake!

Flashback Diner-Boca Raton

Flashback Diner is located in the heart of east Boca Raton. Flashback caters to college students and retirees alike and has a friendly, at-home atmosphere. If you are hungry, Flashback Diner is the place to go, especially for chocolate milkshakes. The chocolate milkshake at Flashback is big enough to share with someone, and very filling. It is the perfect late night treat for any sweet tooth.

Another perk of Flashback Diner, it is open 24 hours. So if you have a late night craving and live in south Palm Beach County I suggest you head over to the diner and grab a sweet treat.

St. Lucie County

Highway 55 Burgers Shakes and Fries-Port St.Lucie

Highway 55 Burgers Shake and Fries is your spot if you want an old fashioned diner milkshake in Port St Luice.

When asking around, many residents in south Florida said Highway 55 "Is the place to go!" Highway 55 Burgers Shakes and Fries is located at 4007 SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

All Treasure Coast chocolate milkshake lovers should check out this spot if you're looking for a diner classic.

Indian River County

Kilwins Ice Cream and Chocolates-Vero Beach

Saving the best for last. Kilwins Ice Cream and Chocolates makes you feel like it is Christmas every time you walk inside. Chocolate lovers world wide would stand in line for any treat from this shop.

Their ice cream is made so well that it is no surprise their milkshakes are equally delicious. When I walk into Kilwins I have a hard time deciding what I want because everything is just incredible looking.

What is so special about their chocolate milkshakes you may ask-and the answer is there are little pieces of chocolate in the shake, a sugar surprise inside every sip.

If you ever find yourself relaxing at the beach on the Treasure Coast I would suggest taking a stroll to Kilwins, it will brighten your day.
