A bill proposed in the U.S. House of Representatives would require Federal and Executive Branch spending at properties owned by a president to be public information.

Under the bill proposed by Rep. Adam Schiff (D-California), the use of any Federal funds used at a privately held company owned by a president would have to be disclosed. The bill requires the head of each Executive agency to submit quarterly reports to the Director of the Office of Government Ethics to list each time funds were used directly or indirectly for a company owned "whole or in part" by the President.

H.R. 4454 would not prevent such spending, only make it public by being published on the Office of Government Ethics website.

The bill has yet to garner any co-sponsors but was referred to the House Oversight and Reform Committee last month.

Schiff is the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, spearheading the current impeachment inquiry into President Donald J. Trump launched by a phone call between the President and the president of Ukraine.

Trump has been critical of the inquiry, tweeting Schiff is a "discrace to our Country" and calling for Schiff's impeachment.
