Two Boynton Beach women are making it their mission to help struggling families in their community.

Kathy Fagan and Doreen Robinson are twin sisters who have always had a passion for helping others. So, when they saw an opportunity to give back, they jumped at the chance.

The pair founded Boynton Angels in Action just six months ago to support the Alliance of the Boynton Beach Faith Based CDC.

“I just think helping families is really important and you know everybody can make a difference and it can start with a small effort,” Kathy said.

It started small for them as well, actually as a food pantry in Kathy’s garage.

They were serving just a couple of families in the community, but now with the help of more volunteer angels, as they like to call them, it’s growing faster than they ever expected.

“We’re able with some of the connections we’ve made to continue to branch out and spread our roots in the community which is exciting. We’ve been overwhelmed with the reception we’ve had from friends and family and angels that have been a tremendous support of what we’re doing and trusting us,” Doreen said.

The pair bag meals and deliver them to families in need in Boynton Beach weekly.

Kathy’s husband, Arnie, has also been a huge help managing the food pantry.

“He’s been amazing. He set up the food pantry, he set up an inventory system, he set up the stocking of the shelves and he set up a distribution system with the families every week,” Kathy said.

Food deliveries to families and seniors are just one part of the plan.

They also help kids celebrate holidays with special gift baskets.

And they connect donors with families to get them baby items, clothing, and furniture.

“We’re actually touching families and people in need and that’s really what we wanted to do. We’ve worked on nonprofit boards before, but nothing like this where we get to give back to people in our community.”

You can find collection boxes set up at several locations throughout Boynton Beach where you can drop off nonperishable food items.

There are currently four locations:

LA Fitness – Boynton Beach

Allura Salon Suites – Boynton Beach

Acusports Therapy – Delray Beach

Tivoli Lakes – Clubhouse – Boynton Beach
