LAKE WORTH, Fla. (CBS12) — A woman from Lake Worth is accused of introducing two teenage girls to the business of prostitution and using at least one of them as a prostitute.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office arrested 33-year-old Amber Lynn Peak on two counts of human sex trafficking, two counts of deriving proceeds of prostitution, and two counts of child abuse.
According to the arrest report, a 17-year-old girl told investigators after she ran away from home four months ago, and Peak introduced her to prostitution through a smart phone application. The teen said Peak took and used nude photographs of her in online prostitution ads. The teen said she stayed at numerous hotels around Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties where she saw about six to eight clients a day. The girl said Peak took half the profits and provided her with Molly and cocaine to stay awake and have more dates.
A 16-year-old girl said she, the 17-year-old girl, and an unidentified girl who she thought was 15 years old, stayed in various hotels with Peak, according to the arrest report. The girl denied working as a prostitute through the smart phone app, but admitted to creating prostitution advertisements with photos of the young girls. According to the 17-year-old, they made about 300 prostitution ads on the Internet from Nov. 2018 until this month. The 16-year-old said she ended up in the hospital as the result of doing drugs.
According to the arrest report, Peak told investigators she worked as a prostitute through a smart phone application, and that she stayed at various locations with a total of six juvenile girls, which included the 17 and 16-year-old girls, and the unidentified girl who she thought was only 13 years old. Peak said she told the 17-year-old girl to focus on making money from older men. She said the 17-year-old girl had worked as a prostitute before she met her. Peak also said she told the girl that posting online prostitution ads is safer than working the streets.
Peak, who has a driver's license from South Carolina, appeared in court Monday morning. As part of her bond requirements, she cannot have any contact with minor children or the victims, per online court records.
