One person is in the hospital, and the search is on for a suspect after a shooting this Labor Day Weekend that injured a person in broad daylight.

It happened at 53rd Street and Manning in West Palm Beach’s Northwood Estates neighborhood—just north of 45th Street-- on Sunday afternoon.

West Palm Beach Police crime scene technicians analyzed more than a dozen bullet casings.

West Palm Beach Police told CBS12 the victim is a pedestrian who was taken to the hospital. A motive for the shooting is not known. West Palm Beach Police have not released the victim’s identity, but he is in critical condition.

Cary Abreu, who lives across the street from the scene of the crime, said she heard multiple shots in rapid succession, before cautiously going outside to see if everyone was ok.

“I was inside working, and all I heard was gunshots-- like somebody literally trying to kill somebody.” Abreu told CBS12, “I don’t know if I was scared at the moment or just kind of like in shock. It seemed like it was by the door. You know? That’s how close it was.”
