West Palm Beach couple shoot home intruder

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — A West Palm Beach couple, asleep in their home, shot a man after he broke into their house on Saturday morning.

According to police at 4:16 a.m. Saturday they responded to a shooting near the 500 block of Avon Road.

Once on scene, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Detectives say the man broke into the home through a window, while the couple was asleep inside the home.

When the intruder turned on the bedroom light, the couple was startled and got into a verbal confrontation with the intruder, according to police.

The confrontation escalated and one of the residents shot the intruder.

The intruder, described as a Hispanic man between 38 and 40 years old, was taken to the hospital where he died.
