WEST PALM BEACH (CBS12) — The Arc of Palm Beach County is looking for volunteers to help break a Guinness Book World Record by packaging 100,000 glow bands in ten hours.
The goal is not just to break the world record, but to raise awareness and funds for a very important cause.
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month - a time to celebrate the opportunities given to adults with developmental disabilities through employment. These opportunities give those living with disabilities a chance to live and work independently.
The glow in the dark bands are a symbol of safety, awareness and most importantly inclusion for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
On Monday, volunteers will gather at the South Florida Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for "Band Together to Celebrate Abilities." There they will package these glow in the dark bands in an attempt to break the world record, and put together 100,000 bands in just ten hours time.
The event will have food, entertainment and an Arc Artisan pop up gallery. You can work a shift or stay all day if you'd like.
