A police officer in Illinois is being honored for rescuing a child who ran onto a busy highway after wandering away from his mother's house.

Naperville Police shared the stunning video of last month's incident on Facebook.

The video shows the toddler running down State Route 59, a 3-lane highway, as cars pass by on the left.

Sergeant Mannino happened to be on patrol and saw the little boy running down the road. He pulled over and ran after the little boy just as the youngster crossed a street and trotted into traffic.

The officer scooped up the boy just in time. No one was hurt.

The department honored Mannino with its Life Saving Award.
