WEST PALM BEACH (CBS12) — A worker was killed on Saturday near Palm Beach International Airport, when a concrete truck overturned, crushing the man.
The man was working on a new gas station-retail center, under construction at the edge of the airport.
As workers started to pour concrete for a new curb along Belvedere Road, tragedy struck.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office says, for a reason still unknown, the concrete truck tipped over onto its passenger side.
“I’m angry, I’m sad, I’m emotional," said Manushka Carter, who said it was her uncle who was killed.
“(He's) the closest thing I have to a father," explained Carter, who said she got a call from her cousin and rushed to the scene.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office identified the man as 59-year-old Herold Ambroise.
“I’m still in shock, because I’m thinking this is a dream,” said Carter.
“Apparently he was giving directions to that concrete machine over there, and the whole truck fell on him,” Carter added.
The Sheriff’s Office said detectives from the Violent Crimes Division responded to document the scene. They’ll forward a report to OSHA.
