A RV fire caused traffic delays on the northbound lanes of the Turnpike just before the Port St. Lucie Boulevard exit, the St. Lucie County Fire District said.

Traffic is backed up beyond Mile Marker 137, the Florida Department of Transportation said.

Firefighters rescued a cat from inside the RV and the Red Cross was called for two adults, according to fire officials. Animal Control was called to the scene and took the cat to a vet.

The fire was caused by a flat tire.
