Tools for Teachers: Laura Farnham

Tools for Teachers: Laura Farnham (WPEC)

This week’s Tools For Teachers winner is Laura Farnham, a teacher at Pierce Hammock Elementary School in Loxahatchee.

She just had surgery on her foot, but isn’t missing a step with her second grade students.

Laura is in charge of a group of 19 students in an ESE inclusion class.

Her class mixes special education right in and she says she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“They get along so well with each other,” she said. “They are able to sit with each other, help each other.”

A teacher for more than 13 years Laura is well versed in getting her students to get their work done but with a little bit of fun mixed in.

“She’s always so nice to us,” said one of her students, 7 year old Riley Gerlach.

Laura is also involved with an after school running team, helps tutor and is an advisor for Pierce Hammock’s safety patrol.

“They get to see me dipping into all little aspects of the school and it gets them excited,” said Laura.

Getting her students to enjoy learning and grow is what Laura says it’s all about.

“Anything I can do for the kids because it’s all about the kids,” said Laura.

We are always looking for teachers like Laura.

We give them $312 for their school supply budgets.
