Thyroid medication recalled over manufacturing concerns

A drug manufacturer is recalling a thyroid medication as a precaution, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

Westminster Pharmaceuticals, LLC issued a voluntary recall last week of Levothyroxine and Liothyronine as a precaution, the FDA says.

They have concerns because the tablets were manufactured with active ingredients that were sourced before the FDA implemented new standards.

People are urged to replace their tablets as soon as possible, but to continue to take the recalled pills until they find a replacement.

The company has not received any reports of adverse events, they add.
