The red tide takeover continues
NORTH HUTCHINSON ISLAND, Fla. (CBS12) —
Indian River and North St. Lucie Counties beaches are still closed Thursday.
Crews prepared for a second day of clean up.
From far away, everything looks fine. But up close, you see dead fish scattered all over Pepper Beach and vultures lurking over head, ready to pounce.
Crews started putting the dead fish in piles Wednesday, atempting to make for an easier clean up and to help with the smell. But the stench of rotting fish is still very strong surrounding the beach. And the sight of buggy eyes and dismantled fish limbs makes walking on the sand anything but a day at the beach.
