Teacher removed after incident involving student at West Boca High School
WEST BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) —
A West Boca Community High School teacher has been removed from the classroom amid a police investigation.
The Palm Beach County School District says it involves an incident with a teacher and a student.
There’s only one week left of school, but instead of discussing summer plans, students like Cameryn Jaffy says this incident is what everyone is talking about right now.
“I was in the classroom, and I heard like screaming going on,” Jaffy said.
CBS12 News is not going to identify the teacher at the center of the investigation because she has not been criminally charged or suspended.
“No teacher should yell at the students the way she does, it’s like intense yelling,” Jaffy said.
Many students tell CBS12 overall there’s a positive student-teacher relationship at the high school and something like this is uncommon. They say there are glad the school district is taking action.
“I think that it’s good that they are taking this seriously, because of everything that’s been going on right now,” Jaffy said. “It makes me feel safer.”
The Palm Beach County School District released this statement:
A teacher at West Boca Raton High has been assigned to home while School Police is investigating an incident involving a student. As the investigation is still open, we cannot comment further at this time.
