WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
A man has been arrested after police say he was behind a violent sledgehammer robbery in West Palm Beach.
Authorities say they found him in Coral Springs after months of investigating.
One of the main ways authorities were able to track down the suspect was a post from his Facebook page.
“There was blood everywhere,” said Tavorris Zion Green, a business owner located next to the owner of Zion Fitness Studio.
Green remembers the February morning his parking lot became a crime scene all too well.
He says he saw 38-year-old Roady Sanozier waiting outside the business next door before the attack.
“The same guy that was sitting there he came and started whaling on the guy with the sledgehammer,” Green said.
Police say Sanozier returned that morning to cord financial services months after being fired for stealing $36,460.
Before that, he was a suspect in another theft where police say he acted as an armored truck driver and got away with about $60,000.
Officers say in the latest incident Sanozier ambushed an employee with a sledgehammer, beating him on the head and face to get a bag of $128,000. Only current or past employees like Sanozier know about the ATM businesses’ weekly cash drop.
Green says his fitness clients stopped showing up after the attack.
“People were afraid,” he said.
Court documents say they connected Sanozier to the pickup they saw leaving the scene in surveillance footage after he posted a video on his Facebook page with the same pickup.
“It makes me feel good to be able to say they found the person,” Green said.
Police say the victim, a 31-year-old man, had to undergo facial reconstructive surgery for his injuries.
He tells CBS12 News he is taking it day by day.
Sanozier has posted bond, but is due back in court at the end of the month.
