Students at a local high school organized a walk out Monday morning.

Ari Silver, a tenth grader at Olympic Heights Community High School, organizes the event. He told CBS 12 reporter Rosie Woods “we don’t feel safe in school anymore. We don’t want people that can just walk in with all types of crazy semi automatic machine guns. We don’t think that’s right anymore and we are going to try to do something about it.”

In addition to today’s walk out, a protest in Washington, D.C. is scheduled for March 24 at an event organized by March For Our Lives.

Another national walkout is slated for April 20, the nineteenth anniversary of the Columbine shooting in Colorado.
