A Stoneman Douglas teacher says her student, shooting survivor Anthony Borges, took a turn for the worst.

The 15-year-old was shot five times during the Valentine’s Day rampage that killed 17 students and teachers; he has been hospitalized since then.

His teacher Marilyn Rule tweeted Wednesday night:

“Please continue prayers for Anthony. It appears that he took a turn turn for the worst today and is back in ICU on a ventilator. He had an emergency surgery today and another scheduled for tomorrow! He needs lots of prayers”

Borges is being hailed a hero after he used his body to barricade a classroom door during the shooting, saving at least 20 lives.

His family was the first to announce their intent to file a lawsuit against Broward County officials stemming from the tragedy.
