South Florida man makes living out of traveling world

Imagine traveling the world and getting paid to do it. For one South Florida man it’s just another day at the office.

Scott Eddy didn’t always have some 181,000 followers on Instagram or nearly one million on Twitter; his adventure started with a random trip to visit a friend in Thailand 17 years ago and he hasn’t stopped traveling ever since.

Whether it’s a helicopter ride over New York City or a rooftop view of the Singapore F1 Grand Prix, Eddy is racking up the frequent flyer miles as a social media influencer.

“I rent my audience to travel brands and tourism brands around the world and I talk about their experiences, their brand, their properties,” Eddy said.

The former stockbroker turned luxury travel guru and blogger from Fort Lauderdale credits the power of Twitter for helping him land his dream job.

“I spent the last seven years building up my personal brand, building up my audience, building up the engagement,” he said.

As for those who want to get into the business; Eddy says his success didn’t happen overnight.

His advice is to step out of your comfort zone and utilize the power of social media.

“Start building relationships, start conversations with people you don’t know,” Eddy said. “People from all parts of the world, where you can really dive into different cultures and dive in to see what’s going on.”
