The bones found in St. Lucie County were identified as a 70-year-old homeless man last seen in 2002, the St. Lucie County Sheriff said Wednesday.

According to the sheriff, the man was named Calvin Douglas Parrott.

He was last seen by his wife at the time, detectives say. The medical examiner does not suspect foul play and says it looks like he died of natural causes.

The bones were discovered earlier this summer when construction crews unearthed them while excavating the wooded area along Kitterman Road.

Detectives believe Parrott's remains had been buried for almost 16 years before the construction crews found them.

The case is now considered closed.
