Sheriff: man hits woman with lead pipe, eye falls out

A man is behind bars after deputies say he hit a woman with a pipe on the head.

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Deputies arrested 27-year-old Juan Henriquez on Wednesday for attempted murder with a deadly weapon after dislodging a woman's right eye.

According to deputies, Heriquez got into an altercation with a man and a woman outside of Beer & Wine Store on Military Trail. Sometime afterwards, Henriquez allegedly attacked the woman. None of them knew the suspect.

According to the arrest report, the victims told deputies they walked up to the drive thru window. While there, Henriquez started an argument with the woman. Heriquez then allegedly punched the woman in the face. The man intervened, and when they stopped fighting, Henriquez drove off.

According to the arrest report, surveillance video shows after the fight Henriquez allegedly reached out his car window and hit the man in the jaw before driving off.

Deputies say Henriquez was behind the store holding a lead pipe as the victims were leaving. They told deputies that without being provoked, Henriquez violently ran towards them and hit the woman on the right side of her head. Deputies say her eye was hanging out of her socket, and she had a large indentation in the skull area and eyebrow area.

The woman sustained severe nerve damage and facial fractures.

Detectives were able to identify Henriquez from DNA samples taken from one of the victims. Henriquez is already on felony probation for arson, which is set to expire next year.

On Monday, deputies obtained a warrant for Henriquez.

According to deputies, Henriquez told them that he tried to pay for the woman's balance and she allegedly caused the initial altercation. Henriquez told deputies nothing happened after he drove off.

Henriquez is charged with attempted first degree murder with a deadly weapon, aggraavated battery with a deadly weapon and violation of probation.
