Sea turtle injured by shark returns to the ocean
HOBE SOUND, Fla. (CBS12) —
A Green sea turtle, injured by a shark, made a return to the ocean in Hobe Sound Thursday morning.
Folks at The Nature Conservancy and Loggerhead Marinelife Center nursed it back to health. They found the injured turtle in the ocean off Blowing Rocks Preserve in December of 2016.
The turtle, named Scallywag, lost a flipper. He waved while being carried to the ocean. He disappeared under the surf within seconds as a small crowd stood by and cheered.
