Her paws are wrapped in bandages and most of her wounds are hidden under a T-shirt. She even has some small cuts on her face.

But surprisingly, Destiny is a happy dog.

She has spent the last two weeks at a pet hospital recovering from injuries she suffered after her previous owner unknowingly dragged her half a mile down a road.

“They assured us they would save the dog. She had a good fighting chance at life so we said absolutely,” said Clinton Cimring, executive director of Salty Dog Paddle.

Cimring said they need to raise about $10,000 to pay for Destiny’s vet bills.

“The total estimate they gave us initially was $10,000," he said. "Might end up being as much as $15,000. They are still going to discount a substantial portion of that."

Cimring said they are already planning for when Destiny is released from the hospital.

“Since no rescue could take her, we have a sponsor called Central Bark in West Palm Beach and they said when Destiny is ready in about a month, because she still has a few surgeries, they would house her as long as necessary for free,” he said.

Marilyn Walter with Central Bark Doggy Day Care said when she heard Destiny’s story, they knew they should help.

“It broke our hearts and this is what we can give," she said. "We can give our place and our staff loves animals."

It also may be the place where destiny finds her forever family.

“We want to make sure once Destiny is helped she can go to a home where she will be properly cared for,” Cimring said.
