WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) - Rock legend Bret Michaels, known for his music as the lead singer of the group Poison, is known for charity work through his Life Rocks Foundation. When it comes to giving to the people affected by Hurricane Dorian, he stops at nothing to do what he can, especially if a little girl's Christmas wish depends on it.

Michaels landed in Palm Beach International Friday morning. He planned to load up food, supplies and gifts to fly over to the Abaco Islands.

"We were gonna start it by taking a bunch of toys and supplies," Michaels said. "Then when we heard about Emma."

Emma Sawyer is a 9-year-old girl from Green Turtle Cay on the Abaco Islands. Her home was destroyed by Hurricane Dorian. Since then, she's stayed with her sister in the West Palm Beach area. Her one Christmas wish was to be back home for good.

"To not be able to be in school, around your friends and family especially around Christmas, that broke my heart," Michaels said.

Sawyer's mom connected with Paradise Fund and Operation Airdrop; both are nonprofit disaster relief organizations. Michaels worked with both to get his donations down to the people who may not have a Christmas otherwise. Once they told him about Sawyer, he made the call to take her home.

"I couldn't be more excited to do this," Michaels said.
