A 22-year-old man is facing attempted murder charges in connection to a shooting last month on West Gateway Boulevard, Boynton Beach police said.

Andre Witherspoon Jr., of Riviera Beach, reportedly shot Eli Palmisciano in a Publix parking lot on Nov. 22 after a drug deal gone wrong, according to police. He was taken to Delray Medical Center, where he is in critical condition.

Palmisciano's friend and witness, who was with him at the time, told police Palmisciano called him earlier that day about setting up a drug deal where Palmisciano could buy a good amount of marijuana, according to arrest reports. He met Palmisciano and they called Witherspoon, his ex-drug dealer.

They all agreed to meet in the parking lot of 1035 West Gateway Boulevard.

Palmisciano's friend parked his Camry while Palmisciano went to look for Witherspoon, police said. Police say once Palmisciano found him, Witherspoon followed him to the Camry in the Nissan Altima he was in. He then got out of the Nissan and into the backseat of the Camry behind Palmisciano and his friend, says the arrest report.

Once he was in the car, Witherspoon pulled out a gun and told Palmisciano to "give him his money," according to police. A struggle ensued and Palmisciano tried to run away before Witherspoon shot him in the back says the report.

He then put the gun to his friend's head before getting into the Nissan, police said. Witherspoon switched seats with the woman who had been driving and sped away.

Witherspoon tried to get away, at which point a bystander tried to stop him with his truck, according to police. However, Witherspoon hit another vehicle and managed to drive out of the plaza say authorities.

Police were able to track Witherspoon down after Beahm gave him his phone number.

Witherspoon is not only facing charges of attempted murder, but also robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault.
