Report: PGA of America National Headquarters possibly on the move
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
According to Golf.com, the PGA of America could be on the move from Palm Beach Gardens to Frisco, Texas.
The national headquarters has been in Palm Beach Gardens since 1965. Its new location would be a part of a new development called Panther Creek, which is north of Dallas, Golf.com reported.
The development reportedly includes two 18-hole golf courses. The move, according to Golf.com, would reportedly allow the PGA to have the development host a number of big events like the PGA Championship and Ryder Cup.
PGA of America issued this statement:
“Last year we issued a request for proposal to a number of markets that are potentially well suited and interested in developing a new headquarters campus for us. The due diligence phase is ongoing and no decisions have been made.”
Ken Kennerly, the executive director of The Honda Classic, also responded. “While it would be disappointing to see one of the leaders of the golf community leave our area, if the PGA of America does leave Palm Beach County it has no bearing on what we do. It would not affect the Honda Classic at all. “
