Publix issues recall for deli popcorn chicken

Publix Super Markets issued a voluntary recall of its Deli Popcorn Chicken on Thursday because it could possibly contain foreign material.

The chicken is sourced from Pilgrim’s Pride, also known as Pierce Chicken.

The popcorn chicken was sold between January 17 - 31 in both hot and refrigerated cases in the deli department in all Publix stores in Florida. They were also available at some stores in Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama.

Stores have removed affected products off the shelves and the ones for sale now are not impacted by this recall.

“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted product has been removed from all store shelves,” said Maria Brous, Publix's Media and Community Relations Director. "Customers who have purchased the product in question may return the product to their local store for a full refund.

Publix said customers with additional questions may call their Customer Care department at 1-800-242-1227 or visit their website.
