Police: Man accused of attacking woman with chainsaw
LANTANA, Fla. (WPEC) - A woman is in the hospital after being attacked by a man with a chainsaw, according to Lantana Police.
Police say 20-year-old Juan Carlos Cabrera Jr. attacked the woman outside a Super 8 Motel near I-95 and Hypoluxo Road. Police said the woman has non-life-threatening injuries to her chest and hand.
Investigators said Cabrera was staying at the motel and that he wanted to end the woman's life when he saw her walking down the street.
The woman told police she thought he was a landscaper, but then Cabrera tackled her to the ground, turn the chainsaw on and and began striking her in the chest during rush hour.
Lantana Police say they're waiting on a warrant to search Cabrera's car and motel room to see if drugs played a role in the attack.
Police can not confirm or deny if Cabrera has any mental issues.
The victim has been identified by police as 64-year-old Marie Geffrard of Lantana.
