A man pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in the death of his 13-month-old daughter.

Alejandro Aleman took a plea bargain on Wednesday and received a 20-year prison sentence with credit for time served.

His daughter Tayla weighed nine pounds at birth, but only seven pounds when she died in April 2016. Paramedics found her with severe diaper rash and a black eye. She was one of 10 children found in the Aleman's home in Loxahatchee Acreage, which investigators described as having "deplorable living conditions." The case even led to changes at the Florida Department of Children and Families and reprimands for several employees.

The girl's mother, Kristen Meyer, took a plea deal last October. She agreed to testify against her husband in exchange for a aggravated manslaughter charge. She faces 23 years in prison.
