PBSO mourns deputy who lost battle with cancer
ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of its own.
Agent Thomas R. Kelly died Saturday, a week before the sheriff's office planned to honor him today with an award at a public ceremony. Sheriff Rick Bradshaw instead hand-delivered it to Kelly last week.
Kelly worked with the sheriff's office for the past nine years. He spent 19 years with the Florida Highway Patrol before joining PBSO. He leaves behind a wife of 28 years and an adult daughter, the sheriff's office said.
Kelly's funeral is set for Friday afternoon at Christ Fellowship Church in Royal Palm Beach. Services begin at 2:30 p.m. He'll be buried at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
People can leave their condolences on the PBSO Facebook page.
