WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Another major retailer is going out of business.
Payless will close all of its 2100 stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico in the next few months.
The liquidation sales started Sunday and in just a few weeks some stores will start closing, but most will stay open until May.
Payless filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and closed roughly 400 stores at that time. They could file for bankruptcy for a second time by the end of the month.
If you plan on hitting some of Payless' liquidation sales, here's what to keep in mind"
At the beginning of a big sale, a retailer may charge full price on some items until inventory clears out so you may want to wait if your looking for huge discounts. Although prices will start to drop over time, don’t wait too long because inventory does go quickly.
You also want to be clear about the return policy. There's a good chance you won't be allowed to return a product from a liquidation sale after you buy it.
Finally, be sure to use up those gift cards, after the company is gone, your gift card is almost certainly useless.
Payless has also stopped its online sales.
IF YOU go to their website Payless.com, You can see photos of merchandice but you will be directed to a store to make a purchase.
